The Americans are coming!

Nine Elms is currently undergoing an incredible transformation, with international developers Ballymore behind the fantastic luxury development, Embassy Gardens. The sheer scope of this is breathtaking, with the US embassy set to be the centrepiece, spreading over five acres of land. The work started in 2008 and is scheduled to end in 2017, when the embassy will be ready. An amazing coup for Wandsworth and just a stone’s throw from historic Westminster, the bustle of South Bank and the crowds of the West End; an extra fifteen acres are also to be developed. Ultimately, the idea is to produce a modern, welcoming, safe and energy efficient embassy for the 21st century, which is surrounded by top class facilities to support the 1,800 people working and visiting the new embassy each day.

It’s clear that US embassy workers both home and abroad who are looking to relocate to Nine Elms, have much to look forward to. Embassy Gardens offers a Health and Well Being Centre, as well as a range of retail, bar and restaurant space. There’s also set to be in excess of 100,000 square feet of leisure space, gardens, community areas. The Kingdom of the Netherlands has also announced it is to join the United States in moving its embassy from central London to the Nine Elms development.
